GROWING BROOD: Oscar-winning couple Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem are expecting their second child.

Penelope Cruz is reportedly expecting her second child.

The 38-year-old actress shares a two-year-old son with husband Javier Bardem.

The New York Post reports little Leo Encinas Bardem is about to become a big brother.

A source tells the American newspaper the pregnancy is the reason behind Cruz' fuller figure in recent weeks.

The actress has yet to confirm the news.

The Vanilla Sky star began dating 43-year-old Skyfall actor Bardem in 2007. The couple married in July 2010 in the Bahamas.

Cruz opened up about motherhood to America's Vogue magazine shortly after Leo was born in 2011.

"From the first second, you feel so much love," she said.

The actress called being a first-time mother a "revolutionary experience".

"That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second," she explained.

A pregnancy for the star would mark the second round of baby news for Cruz' family in recent weeks.

Her sister Monica announced last month she got pregnant with the help of an anonymous sperm donor.

The siblings are expected to be pregnant together for at least several weeks.

Monica Cruz revealed she was expecting her first child later this year.

The dancer and model wrote about the baby news on her blog for Spanish newspaper El Pais.

"I'm going to be a mother!" she exclaimed, adding, "I have managed to fulfill the dream of a lifetime. Because of that, I want to share with all of you this special journey and be able to tell you about all of my experiences during this fascinating time."

Spokespersons for Cruz and Bardem have declined to comment on the report.
