Penlope Cruz has hailed Loewe's creative director Stuart Vevers as one of the "greatest designers in the world". The 38-year-old Spanish actress announced she had signed a three-year deal to become the face of the brand last month. The sultry brunette has now gushed about her appointment as the new face of the Spanish luxury label, and praised Loewe's long-standing position as a leader in the fashion world. "Not many brands can resist time in the way Loewe can do it. Every collection feels fresh," Penlope gushed to British newspaper the Telegraph. "What is there secret? I don't know but I would love to know it. They are [under creative director Stuart Vevers lead] one of the greatest designers in the world right now." British ex-Mulberry designer Stuart moved to Madrid to join the brand in 2008. He is responsible for putting his own stamp on the label's classic Amazona bag, which Penlope is a particular fan of. Penelope Cruz had no hesitations in becoming the new face of Loewe. The Spanish actress was announced as an ambassador of the Madrid-based fashion brand last month and she says she took them up on their offer as soon as they got in touch. She said: ''They approached me and I said yes very quickly because it's a Spanish brand and everyone involved is from Spain - although the designer is British - all the work is done there in the factories in Spain. It's such an old company. It's been there forever and I have grown up looking at their wonderful things.''
