Penlope Cruz: Vevers is top designer

Penlope Cruz has hailed Loewe's creative director Stuart Vevers as one of the "greatest designers in the world".

The 38-year-old Spanish actress announced she had signed a three-year deal to become the face of the brand last month.

The sultry brunette has now gushed about her appointment as the new face of the Spanish luxury label, and praised Loewe's long-standing position as a leader in the fashion world.

"Not many brands can resist time in the way Loewe can do it. Every collection feels fresh," Penlope gushed to British newspaper the Telegraph. "What is there secret? I don't know but I would love to know it. They are [under creative director Stuart Vevers lead] one of the greatest designers in the world right now."

British ex-Mulberry designer Stuart moved to Madrid to join the brand in 2008. He is responsible for putting his own stamp on the label's classic Amazona bag, which Penlope is a particular fan of.

"My favourite bag is the Amazona bag because there are so many different versions of it, yet it always has the same shape," Penlope explained. "It always looks like something you have never seen before. Even though you know it is the one that has been there forever."

The Oscar-winning actress' campaign images are set to be revealed in early 2013. As well as promotion for the line, the star has designed a collection of lingerie for global underwear giants Agent Provocateur. The pieces, which Penlope produced with her sister Monica, will go on sale next summer.
