"I grew up admiring all the designs; the bags, the clothes, the accessories" says Oscar-winning actress of brand Loewe, which like her, is bound by its Spanish heritage.

Cruz, 38, signed a three-year deal to become the face of the brand last month, but the fruits of this assignment won't be revealed until the new year.

She adds: "I've worked with a lot of different brands and I am very proud and grateful to all those jobs but I have to say that this one is especially important to me."

Said 'other jobs' currently include designing a line for Agent Provocateur with her sister Monica, which will go on sale next summer.

Cruz calls the label's creative director Stuart Vevers ! "one of the greatest designers in the world right now." The British ex-Mulberry designer moved to Madrid to join the brand in 2008 and put his own stamp on the label's classic Amazona bag - which has subsequently become a favourite with Cruz, Kylie Minogue and Jessica Alba.
