Penelope Cruz and sis star in 'Professor Layton' ad

Spanish actress Penelope Cruz and her sister Mnica star in Nintendo's commercial for the mystery-solving adventure game Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask.

The Nintendo 3DS game, out in North America on October 28 and in European regions from the 26th, sends the top-hatted Hershel Layton to the secluded city of Monte d'Or, on the trail of an enigmatic and trouble-making masked gentleman.

Penelope and her sister were previously involved in an August commercial for New Super Mario Bros., after Robin Williams and daughter Zelda had featured in Nintendo ads throughout 2011.

Fellow console manufacturers Sony and Microsoft have also shown a talent for teaming up with famous faces: Microsoft's Xbox division supported Eva Longoria's Celebrity Casino Night in October, while Sony will be publishing PlayStation 3 game Beyond, starring Inception actress Ellen Page, in 2013.
