Penelope Cruz helps Saks kick off Key to the Cure: Cleveland style events

Saks Fifth AvenueActress Penelope Cruz is the ambassador for Saks Fifth Avenue's Key to the Cure campaign this year. You can buy a shirt like hers, designed by Carolina Herrera, for $35 at Saks in Beachwood Place and the entire purchase price will go to The Gathering Place.

Saks Fifth Avenue's Key to the Cure: Saks Fifth Avenue will kick off its Key to the Cure shopping weekend (Thurs, Oct. 18-Sunday, Oct. 21) with a free speakeasy-themed event called "All Dolled Up" at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at its location inside Beachwood Place mall (6300 Cedar Road). Guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres, live entertainment and shopping. Saks will donate 2 percent of all sales Thursday, Oct. 18-Sunday, Oct. 21 to The Gathering Place, a local organization that supports and educates individuals and families dealing with cancer.

All month long, the store will offer a limited-edition Key to the Cure T-shirt designed by Carolina Herrera for $35. The entire purchase price goes to The Gathering Place.

"Beautyx3" event in Chagrin Falls: Mark your calendar for Wednesday, Oct. 10, when Scott Fisher Salon and La Look Boutique in Chagrin Falls present "Beautyx3" -- an event that showcases the latest trends in hair, makeup and fashion.

The free event is from 5-8 p.m. in the StepNorth building (100 N. Main St., Chagrin Falls) and includes mini-skin treatments, makeup makeovers, haircut and color consultations, chair massages, drinks, appetizers and a fashion show with clo! thes from Fringe, J3 Clothing Co. and Haven.

Avant-Garde Art & Craft Show: Enjoy an unconventional art and craft show while supporting a local charity. Becki Cooper of University Heights organizes the shows across the state yearround and donates a portion of the proceeds to local charities. The next show will be from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at LaCentre in Westlake (25777 Detroit Road). Peruse upcycled jewelry, stained-glass works, bath and body products, home decor items, photographs, apparel, accessories from more than 100 handmade vendors. Parking is free.

A portion of the proceeds will go to Drink Local, Drink Tap, a local nonprofit that teaches Northeast Ohioans about local water sources and helps orphans in Uganda get access to clean drinking water.
